Also, we decided on Seesmic because of the ability to stream live directly onto you're seesmic feed, so for me, that constitutes live video platform.

This is correct, all mobile products (with the exception of AT&T video share) require a data plan, since they are run via internet.

Phil, sorry for confusion, which was probably caused by our original reference to Qik, and how it required a data plan (thus, suggesting that you don't require data plan for the others). We've since corrected that. To be clear, all mobile products require a data plan.

Thanks for the writeup David.

The Qik app currently makes a lot of quality decisions based upon a few varying factors:
- “live” or “buffered” chosen in the settings
- cell network bandwidth and signal strength at the current location
- some hidden settings that we’re working on getting exposed in the main UI, where appropriate, or building into the app as defaults

For going beyond that (obtaining settings for production quality streams, for example) give us a yell at support@qik.com and we’ll see what we can do :). And stay tuned for some upcoming features and additional devices that will raise the performance bar even higher.

We just opened the Floobs Beta in English and Finnish after piloting in Finland during end of 2007. We have not been making a lot of noise about Floobs before we get several kinks ironed out, but the publicity on the web is ruthless ;)

Signing up is now open for a few days, but otherwise we are running a closed beta during spring 2008 to scale it up before actual launch.
