1. Zero Air Pollution
ZAP stands for Zero Air Pollution. We believe electricity is the fuel of the future. With electricity to power our transportation, our world can tap into renewable resources like hydroelectric, solar, wind, or geothermal power; resources that lessen our environmental footprint. Furthermore, studies show that millions of electric vehicles can recharge at night using existing surplus electrical generation; a vast, virtually untapped resource.
2. Save Gas
Gasoline is a precious natural resource and vital to the world economy. ZAP vehicles use no gasoline and require no oil changes. Using less fossil fuel can help relieve our current energy shortages while ensuring that future generations can rely on the same inexpensive, useful, petroleum products that we all take for granted.
3. Save Money
Gas keeps getting more expensive. Imagine all the money you can save by ZAPPING to work every day, rather than driving your gas vehicle. The typical electric car costs a penny per mile versus ten cents per mile with gas. Electric bikes and scooters are even less expensive. Plus, electric motors have fewer moving parts, meaning fewer trips to the mechanic. If you live close to work, you can save thousands of dollars per year by replacing your car with a ZAP bicycle.
4. Save Time
Traffic congestion and parking shortages eat away at our busy days, but a ZAP vehicle can help you save time, especially in busy urban areas. ZAP bikes and scooters slice through traffic jams and finding a place to park your ZAP neighborhood car is a snap.
5. Help the Economy
Today, the majority of USA's foreign trade deficit is attributed to imported oil. Using a ZAP vehicle will reduce our reliance on foreign oil. Furthermore, by investing in advanced transportation technologies, the USA can take the technological lead in offering energy efficient products that emerging economies around the world can use to build their own transportation infrastructures.

What a concept a truck or car that pays for itself in less then 10 years! And a 10 minute home charger. I can charge while eating lunch or when I return to the office.
As a businessman in a service industry, it will give me a huge advantage over my competitors. In a rural area I put on alot of miles each day. And what better way to promote my electrical business then in an electric truck/suv?
Im ordering a Phoenix today. They appear to have all the goodies of any other modern truck / SUV minus the convenient refilling stations in each and every town.
Todays Lithium batteries dont have a memory like Nicads. The Phoenix claims a battery life of 250k miles i think and many others claim 100k. Some people fight change even when they are the only ones left in the cave i swear.
maximum RPM. This
is what makes them fast.
However you did forget to mention a more practical option than electric cars, namely: electric motorcycles.
http://greenhome.huddler.com/wiki/are-alternati...
And it's a wiki if you're so inclined to participate...the site has tons of information and pics of Teslas, Fiskers, Volts, etc.
NEV is not legal (nor appropriate) for my commute on 45mph roads. Have driven the Zap Xebra and it's promising but scary cheap feeling. Myers Sparrow remake is ridiculously overpriced (though their suspension and electronics improvements are great having driven both). The rest are all pipe-dreams or expensive one-offs.
The Reva has the most promise (and is actually making a dent in London) but is just simply not available here.
You might was to add AC Propulsion. Even though they'll likely never make a production tzero, their eBox Scion conversions are interesting.
I only thing I can think of is that they are letting the mechanical engineers do the design of the cars. Engineers have no style, just look how they dress. Hire some people with at least a little imagination to design the outside of these vehicles please........I can spot an electric from a mile away just because of their ugliness.
It can be charged up in a few minutes at home and you never have to worry about running out of power and getting stuck away from home without a plug. If you run out of air just run the battery powered compressor much like a hybrid for enough power to get back home. Its light weight and decent specs fall at the top end of the electrics and its cheaper. I have seen a crash test and it held up better than some full size cars.
You really need to check out www.flytheroad.com for some great information. This new car is going to be fabulous!

oh... if you are considering getting an EV or becoming a EV dealer, you should first visit ZAP, and see for yourself why this is the EV of choice.
One car company not listed above is Cruise Car. We are a dealer for them and are happy with their products.
Zap has a good song and dance, but they are in it for the money, from dealers or the public, dosen't matter they just want money! And have only their best interest in mind.

Regarding ZAP, Your readers have had the wool pulled over their eyes by some EV marketers that are looking to discredit ZAP in the eyes of the public, media, investors and dealers, while they put together their own knock-off business plan.
ZAP did sell about 20 Worldcars, but the market was slow and the supplies were limited. We sold a vehicle we called the intimidator (see Kurrent), but the price was too expensive with very few sales. We sold over 300 2004 Smart ForTwos before we had to cancel the business for reasons beyond our control. OBVIO is supposed to be a car manufacturer in Brazil who pledged to deliver models in 2008. Obviously they've had some sort of problem, but we will sell them if they are available. The Xebra has been selling since June 2006, so I don't know where you got your info. The ZAP XL Truck is due later this year, according to our announced plans. The ZAP Alias was never said by ZAP to be available in January 2008. How could we announce plans in July 2007 to build the Alias, then deliver it in January. Our projection is 2nd quarter 2009.
If you have any experience in EVs, you would know that ZAP has been selling electric bicycles, scooter, motorcycles, ATVS, now the Xebra, as well as many, many others (over 100,000 EVs delivered) since 1994.
ZAP is a public company which submits to quarterly audits and is a fully SEC reporting company.
Oh, and I own and drive a Xebra and have gone 40 MPH and have driven up to 27 miles on a charge and still have juice left.
Quit trying to badmouth ZAP. Everyone must think starting a car company is easy. Call me if you don't believe me.

THERMOVOLTAIK - CURRENT FROM WARMTH
ADD THERMAL GENERATORS (Addition-thermocouple-voltage) - Decentralized current supply for each household.
Thermovoltaik, the environmentally friendly technology
thermo-generators for power supply are efficient compact with energy concentrated in a small volume. With an efficiency of 48% the transformation of heat into electrical energy is very cost-effective. Additionally, by the stored heat of the generator only the quantity of fuel has to be supplied, a well-isolated generator housing normally delivers as a heat loss to the environment.
The Thermovoltaik is the work area of physics that deals with the conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy. If two different metals are together contacted and heated a voltage electricity with relatively high levels develops.
An Thermo generator consists of several thermo cells in row as laminar contacted thin film coatings forming a pillar block.
A thermo cell is made of several thin film coatings of different materials. If heat is added to a thermo pillar block by the additive method the total voltage the sum of all individual cells.
The output power derives from the general tensions, the size of the cell surfaces (ampere / mm ²),and the temperature the amount supplied.
The electric power is linear proportional to the generator temperature.
The thermal energy supply is compatible with all fuel types. Through power-heat-coupling, biogas, solar radiation with thermal and photovoltaic cells, solar power, hydrogen or geothermal energy.
The compact design of the generators are the diverse applications, ranging from cardiac pacemakers to megawatt power plants in the industry, household, air, sea or space.
A high current inverter, DC / AC inverter converts DC power of the generators in to AC power.
This inverter of unconventional design, is applicable in miniature size for circuit boards for electronics or as inverter for passage of extremly high current for consumer of megawatt power and is applicable to all DC sources.
The additive method also offers new applications in sensor technology with higher sensitivities. High electricity generator and inverter patent DE 43 13 827 A1.
These offers are still in development stage. For more information please see my homepage.

"GO GREEN or Stay home"!
why cant they make normal sized cars, that run on electric?

The Automobile Industry is going to be in the same position as the Airline Industry in the next few months. Unless we get away from gas combustion vehicles, including Hybrids, the automobile industry (as we know it) will die.We need to make drastic moves. America needs to move to ELECTRIC. The vehicles are not as fast, not always as fun to drive, but the move will save Americans money (Billions) and help bring change to our automotive companies. Let's "Be Green"!!!!!!!!!!!! BG Automotive Group Ltd. has a car that will travel 80-100 miles per charge for $15,995. Finally a car that most Americans can afford. Did you know that 80% of all drivers, drive less than 50 miles per day? This new car will cost an equivalent of $0.20-0.25 cents/gallon (depending on electricity rates in your area). Why send $700 Billion per year to OPEC (now buying up U.S. companies) when we can use this money for our schools, health care, social security for all Americans, etc, etc, etc. We can make the difference if WE change.
We are presently testing the higher speed version, but unfortunately this will take another 4-6 months for final approval. We will not market any vehicle until the we can exceed the maximum safety requirements.
We will keep you informed.
Thanks for inquiring.
Barry Bernsten
President
BG Automotive Group, Ltd.
I hope that your faster vehicle works out soon and can be in a reasonable price range for most people. Once again, The best way to efect these changes are to get the most amount of these vehicles out there in all areas, not just the cities, for more people to see them and start thinking "I could use an Electric Car too".
Maybe you've heard this before, but let's keep saying it over and over if we have to - we must find ways to reduce our dependence on oil! Our nations economy will surely improve and so will our environment!
1. Electric Trains (requires government to develop infrastructure)
2. Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus (UTC power has good progress on these...already available)
4. Fuel Cell Vehicle (Honda is leasing them right now)
3. Electric Scooters and Motorcycles (already available for cheap price is India and China)
4. Electric vehicles (the most popular transportation in the future...with integrated wind and solar power)
5. Compressed Air power (a good and cheap option)
6. Natural Gas (there is already a Civic for sell that runs on natural gas)
7. Solar Cars (a dead option for future, requires major technology improvement)
8. Hybrids are going to be popular for next 10 years
9. A used ICE gasoline cars are good option for middle to lower economical class of people.
10. WAIT, WAIT AND WAIT...it is still not practical to buy any of these yet!

People don't want a vehicle that only goes 25 MPH, even if it is "only" $16,000. I know that most pratical EV's are out of the average persons price range, but those prices will come down with more tech in Lithium cells. Check out http://www.SolarRods.com These are not for everyone, but we offer choices in performance, style, and price.
your missing one though. thats Goss132
the only 2 companies i would even think of buying an EV from is Goss132 and Phoenix Motorcars. other than that none of these other models would ever fit my lifestyle!
Phoenix Motorcars is good, but I believe Goss132 has a real future cause of the type of control they give to their customers over their EV.
I'm sold on Goss!!
It would be nice if there was something to see. Is this another MAYBE COMING by 20xXX?
Focus:
History reminds us that every time oil prices peak and the North American market/consumers start to discuss alternative energy sources, the oil exporting countries start to trim down their prices. History also tells us that the oil exporting nations have been very successful in the past and in fact, we have lost our enthusiasm and dropped many of our alternative energy initiatives after oil prices are reduced.
WE need to stay focused this time.
1) Al Gore and his energy initiative is on course.
2) T. Boone Pickens and his wind power initiative is on course.
3) The BG Automotive Group mass production electric vehicle program is on
course along with renewable solar energy charging option.
4) Richard Branson from the UK is on course w/his environmental programs..
5) The Gas Reduction Act of 2008 might not be the most environmentally sound
solution, but yet it shows that Congress has finally realized that we have an
energy crisis (again), and a real threat to our national security.
The continued dependence on foreign oil is a threat to our long term democratic values. We must become an energy independent nation, and with this, some sacrifices will have to be made by the American consumer.
Be aware!!
We are exporting approximately USD $700 Billion dollars per year of U.S. currency. The majority of this money is being transferred to the Trillion dollar “sovereign wealth funds”. This is USD $700 Billion not being spent on America’s educational system, health care and security.
The “sovereign wealth funds” are directly buying major interests (large blocks of stock) in U.S. companies, including most of the major banks. Also, billions of dollars of “sovereign wealth fund” money is being invested in our hedge funds, private equity firms, and the investment banking industry. A few of these firms are directly and indirectly investing large sums of money into our “gas combustion” automobile industry. Do we want our auto industry in the direct or indirect control of the firms that are supplying us oil? This is an interesting topic for an investigative reporter.
There are automotive consulting companies in Michigan (heart of our auto industry), lobbying States and our Federal Government, NOT to subsidize the Electric Vehicle industry. The latter seems to be contradictory to what the American public would like to see from our automobile industry. After the billions (excess of $20 billion) the automotive companies have lost in the past 6 months producing gas combustion vehicles, you would think they too would change course. Changing course is not adding 2-4 miles per gallon w/Hybrids. Drastic measures in our auto industry must take place and NOW!
Do not let the temporary reduction in oil prices push us off course….AGAIN.
Educated:
Read, Read- Stay on top of the issues. Let’s not be fooled again.
STAY FOCUSED, AWARE and EDUCATED!
Another aspect is that the majority of people want to know that there is a substantial company that will stand behind its product and be there for any problems down the road. One of these three wheeler companies only pass on the 12-month warranties for all of the parts yet charge over $30k for thier vehicle (that seats ONE) stating that this is the average price of most vehicles purchased today. I did not get an answer to my question to them - "The average vehicles purchased for $30k usually come with a minumum warranty of 3 yrs or 36,000 miles - why doesn't yours?". Your website doesn't give very much information to us tow know the looks or specs of your vehicles, cost of your vehicles, warranty inforamtion, who youa rea and what is your backing to know if you will be around 10 years from now,.....
Is there any info about the AZ Smart car? It is claimed to be
THE FIRST HYDROGEN ELECTRIC-POWERED SMART CAR AVAILABLE IN NORTH AMERICA
It can be charged from a household outlet.
http://www.electricgreenauto.com/
Any update dot regulations that limit cars only able to go 45 mph to 25mph?
We need to stay on track
First, Americans want an EV with four wheels. Please stop making three wheeled vehicles and then tell us this is what we want. It is not. If you make an EV with three wheels, be prepared to sell only three of them.
Second, make the car look like a car. We don’t want to drive around in a vehicle that either looks like a bug, is only three feet wide, or looks like you have to wind it up to make it go. Again, if you make a car like this, be prepared to sell only three of them. If you seriously want to sell millions of cars, make it look like a car.
Third, make an EV that is capable of highway speeds. It doesn’t need to go 120+ mph, but 65 mph would be nice. I am one of millions of Americans that travel less than 10 miles to work each day, but I still need to access the highway to get to my job. Please don’t assume that just because we don’t travel far means we don’t use the highways. We do.
Fourth, make the EV affordable. For the average Joe, affordable means between $15,000 and $18,000. There are many new gas powered vehicles that sell in this price range. In my opinion, this is the only barrier separating you from the American consumer. I understand that this is the hardest requirement for an EV. However the average American consumer cannot justify spending the current asking price for an EV that is designed to last about 10 years, with the batteries lasting even less than that. If the technology to mass produce an affordable EV is not available yet, please let us know.
Why do I think this blueprint will make you trillions of dollars? Simple. Because when the other EV companies list a plethora of reasons why they can’t do this, you will be the only one saying “Yes we can.” Good luck.
EV makers need to think like Ford did when he started many years ago. Maybe individual EV companies support isn't big enough but what about combining forces for the greater good? Tesla, Venturi and Universal - how many of your cars will it take to make a dramatic change to the environment? Do you think there are that many wealthy people on the entire planet that are willing to buy them now? Couldn't your resources and ingenuity be combined with others to create something in the 15 - 20k USD range on a mass scale that would effect change sooner? The GM EV-1, Toyota RAV4 EV and the Honda EV were those types of vehicles. They are not coming back but can't the combined brainpower and support of you EV makers create a simlar product for mass production?
I found only one maker - Miles - that is working on a regular looking sedan vehicle. The problem is that they are trying to put a lot of bells and whistles on it making the price tag too high for Everday Joe.
Once again, why can't EV makers concentrate together on one vehicle that can be mass produced and priced for Everyday Joe if you ALL want your Mission statements to be worth anything.
1. Either they are too expensive for the average consumer
or
2. They don't have the performance of a regular compact car.
There is a very active community of folks that are converting their own cars to be 100% electric. A typical low-end conversion will cost about $7000, will get you top speeds of 55mph, and a range of about 50 miles. This is exactly what I am doing and will be more than enough for my daily commute and regular errands. If you want to view the project visit www.zerogasoline.com
I read a great article titled, "Electric Car Finds its Niche" at http://economicefficiency.blogspot.com/2008/08/...
The article spells out why electric cars in London make sense.
.......Backed by Idealab and an angel investor, the CEO of Esenjay Petroleum, Michael Johnson.....
Backed by an oil exec? Is this not like letting the fox guard the henhouse?
Maybe we will only see the hybrid Aptera version released, if any at all are ever released.
Google "95AH Large Format NiMH battery" and read what happened to the Toyota Rav4 EV battery pack that has patents owned by a familiar Oil company. This perfectly functional battery for a full sized normal EV is not available for such use anymore, even though 600 Toyota Rav4 EVs are still on the road right now. One 2002 model recently sold on EBAY for $89,000
Who does not want EV’s in our driveways:
-Big Automakers, because they, and their dealer networks do not earn significant revenue by selling cars. A look at how large their service departments are (and our out-of-wallet experience with them) shows what’s at stake revenue-wise because EV’s never need service beyond tire changes. EV’s don’t even need brake jobs due to electronic regenerative braking that does most of the work. Their ordinary friction brake pads and rotors thus last the life of the car (as shown on the Toyota electric Rav4).
The large established car companies depend on their service department, like printer companies depend on sales of ink cartridges. So why did Toyota sell the Rav4 instead of leasing and crushing as GM did with the EV1? It’s a mystery, but I came across a blog that mentioned that a Toyota exec at a public speech mistakenly said that the cars would be sold, and so to save face, Toyota reluctantly sold the Rav4. Buyers, however, now post on blogs that they actually had difficulty in getting the Toyota dealer to sell them an electric Rav4 and that they were highly pressured to instead buy a Gas Toyota or a Prius.
-Large oil companies, for obvious reasons. Note they are also major stockholders in auto companies and thus probably have influence over their board of directors.
Business firms exist to make profits, but profits are going to be reduced if EV’s replace the ICE car. Much of our economy is based on the automobile, and its upkeep. Almost every business is related in some way to the car. What will happen to employment if the need to service a car is practically eliminated?
What happens to Midas, Pepboys, Kragen’s, smog check, AMCO, gas stations, Jiffylube, general service repair centers, the manufacturing plants that fabricate repair parts, the UPS people that deliver the parts, the corner deli or Taco Bells frequented by those firm’s workers at lunchtime? What about government agencies that depend on collecting all manner of tax revenue from the above interlinked economy?
If people understand this scenario, then they will understand why they can’t yet buy an EV from the legacy business infrastructure. Only recently can one sniff the scent of a potential EV from upstart EV start-up manufacturers like Tesla (too costly for mass production partly because they hand-solder a battery pack of 6000 Lithium AA sized cells together in series-parallel groups), Aptera, and even the tiny BugE, etc., because a startup company does not need to address the risk that a service-free vehicle will parasitically affect revenue from other parts of its company.
Curiously, Nissan’s CEO has advocated a pure EV but I have a hard time believing he really will build one and that the announcement is mostly PR in nature. After all, Nissan has service centers, too.
Did you know that it's possible to build a full sized electric vehicle (EV), freeway capable for more than 100 miles per charge with batteries that last the life of the vehicle, and with air conditioning and power windows, etc. (not the costly Tesla). This is without research into Lithium or other exotic batteries (like the Tesla) but instead with proven Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries. This car has been on the road for 10 years now as an embarrassment to the entities that stand against the existence of an electric vehicle: It is the Toyota electric Rav4, and there are about 600 of them still operating in California.
The "battery research required" line we have been told repeatedly is misinformation, which unfortunately, most of us believe.
There is a viable battery already proven to last the life of an electric car and to provide a driving range of more than 100 miles between charges; the "95 AH (Amp Hour) NiMH Large Format" battery. This powers the Rav4 EV.
This battery is no longer sold (why?), but instead a much smaller capacity battery, a Small Format 10 AH NiMH battery is sold to go into the hybrid cars we now drive. This smaller 10 AH capacity battery insures the car still mostly runs on gas. A web search will reveal that a major oil company holds the patents on this battery, and they sued Panasonic for 30 million dollars and had the factory that made them dismantled.
There are many web sites that explore these issues. Google: "Rav4 EV" or "95 AH Large Format NiMH battery”
Basically, by going to hydrogen fuel cells, large companies get to keep selling us fuel, keep the profitable gas station set-up, and so on. If they switch us to electric, they are cutting off their own profit-makers, and that would be stupid from a business sense.
In 50 years our children may very well be in the exact same place that we are in - complaining about how much fuel costs! Just the fuel itself will have changed.
The complaint is being raised that electric cars will mess up the electric grid. Add a fee or special charge to cover it, they''ll say. Eventually electric cars won't be cost-efficient enough to use, and hydrogen will win.
I could be wrong. Something in the electronic-car world could maybe, just maybe, force the issue. But I'm not holding my breath.

I liked the Zap truck mainly due to it's lower weight which should translate to better performance, and because of the optional solar panel charger. The car could recharge during the day sitting in the parking lot. I am curious about their current financial circumstances.
I also liked the Myers Motors offering (except for the price). I have read a small amount about their "Raven" model.
An electric motorcycle or scooter might work if there was some provision for bad weather like a canopy (BugE).
When might we get an updated version of this article?
I worry when I see recent ads by an oil company on Public TV ads indicating interest in Lithium Batteries for "Hybrid Electric Vehicles" (not, of course, battery electric vehicles). What else do they intend to buy?
Which is why I think the Chinese is the best hope for EVs. They've got scillions of people who will soon climb into the middle class, and they need cars. Those cars are going to be electric in many cases because, starting from scratch, China will not lock themselves to petroleum like we have. I plan to buy the Chinese made highway speed Vespa style scooter, the XM-3500Li that is for sale right now in America. Google it. I may also buy the Miles Highway Speed Sedan EV, (which looks like a real car! Google it and see!) if it shows up for sale here. The Chinese are also making their own LiFePO4 Lithium large format batteries: Thunder Sky brand. Perfect for EVs. And Chevron can't stop them like they did with the 95 AH Large Format NiMH battery that Panasonic briefly built, batteries still powering RAV4 EVs 10 years and 100,000 plus miles later as an embarrassment and Myth Buster to the deniers of the EV who keep spouting misinformation "battery research required". I don't think any Western Business, manufacturing based or petroleum based, no matter how large, will be able to stop China. China is independent. And as unpatriotic as it sounds, I sadly cheer on China....at least for EV's and batteries....because America won't sell them to me.
Since an electric car goes against higher oil prices, you can't actually buy one!
I am 21years old nepalese man my name is ram hari nepal now i am in kathmandu. i m really intrested in car company specialley in this company please guide me to join your company at any possition.

I don't understand why these individuals and many more like them aren't doing this and selling them to the general public. I'll bet if you parked say a used, converted Chevy Cavalier on the street or in a parking lot with a sign on it saying "For Sale, Electric Car Conversion," it would create tremendous attention and quite a few sales. I can see used car lots full of converted cars.
Take a used car, convert it to electric, put it into excellent mechanical shape, and sell it to average people for a truly reasonable price. What a concept!
It looks like "Fly Bo", "Kurrent" and "Porteon" are the way to go.
Others are too expensive, considering you're buying an EV to save Gasoline. If this will be the price to pay for an EV in the Future then it's time we learn to build one.
I found a great site about EVs, visit how to build an electric car
Electric Cars have been on the drawing tables for decades. Why does the USA have to wait 'til another country is close to have a true electric car before we introduce ours. The USA used to be the leaders not the followers.
I don't get it????????????

Lithium is the short term battery solution however by diverting some of that mega defense budget into current civilian R&D that has already working on viable substitutes for the lithium battery. With increased funding the electric storage problem could be on the market within a year.
The only way we will move away from the oil and auto barons hold on us is to elect representative to state and federal government that will vote in favor of the people not their rich and corporate supporters.
The people of the US are continually having to bail out the US auto makers. It's time we become the majority owners of these companies. That we demand they produce what we want and need, not new body types of the same vehicles that will continue our dependence on oil or hydrogen filling station. Not the programmed failure of engine parts and continual fuel changes.
The EV takes away the after sales profits from planned part failures and continual fluid changes.
We the people of the US need to stop purchasing fossil fuel vehicle. There are alternatives if their sales go up maybe Ford, GM will get the message. No EV's no sales. The Chevy Volt is GM's attempt to make the car owner feel good about helping the environment, when in reality they are driving an electirc assisted internal combustion engine designed to continue the dependence on fossil fuels and filling stations.
The EV is a viable solution and with new types of batteries and flexible solar materials the EV would be able to charge while you are driving or parked in an open parking lot. However if the big 3 auto makers refuse to provide us with a true EV we need to stop public financial support for these corporation and fund new start up that have viable product but need help with the expense of mass production and distribution.
The flexible solar panels and new batteries are reality they just need financial support to work out the mass production details.
We may have to force the Big 3 auto makers to forego it's 2-3 hundred percent new product profit on the lithium battery and the initial EV production.
If we the US people are going to support the re-tooling of their plants to produce the cars of the future they need to truly free of fossil fuels.
Therefore if it is not a EV or BEV DON'T BUY IT. The only way it will happen is if we let our money do the talking.
We also need to write the auto executive, and state and federal government representative so they know why we aren't purchasing. Otherwise the spin doctor will blame it on everything except the people want a true EV and to be free of the high cost of driving an automobile and its effect on the environment.
In the long term we also need to re-build our mass transit system that was disseminated by the oil and auto barons in order to force us into buying cars and building highways. Rapid transit trains are in use in every country but ours. In places where the railways tracks are still in place rapid transport of people need to be available as an alternate means of travel.

Dearest one,
My name is Henry Tigana from Sierra Leonian. I am 20 years old and a student. Please I would like you to assist me as urgent as you can, before they kill me.My father is a wealthy cocoa merchant.Trouble began early last two year when my father's associates began suspecting that my father is not giving proper accounts of all the tonnes of cocoa being cultivated by local farmersn in some villages.
This mistrust deepens between Oct-Sept, 2005 when they discovered avery large some of money my father deposited with a Bank here in ABIDJAN-COTE D'IVOIRE (FORMALLY IVORY COAST in West Africa. As a result of this discovery and the envy on the money he was poisioned by his associates. At his hospital bed ,he revealed to me the reasons of his sickness and directed me where to get the documents of the said deposit which he made on my name as the next of kin, being the only child.
He advised me that in case he die, that I should not stay in this country Sierre Leone because his associates will equally kill me hence my mother had died five years ago of breast cancer.
He also instructed that if he dies, I should look for a foreign partner who will help me to transfer the money out of this place (Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire), to his account and the person will help me to invest the money in that country. Based on this, I had to contact you bearing in mind that you will be humane enough to protect my life. My father finally died on the 5th of june,2006 and since then, I was out of school and went into hiding because of my father's asociates. All the relevant documents of the $8.000,000..(Eight Million United States Dollars) that was deposited in a Commercial Bank by my late father, are with me now.
I will give you 20% of the total money, if you can help me transferring it into your Account, for onward investment in your country. Please contact me immediately with the above Email address and inc
lude your telephone and Fax numbers to enable me send you all necessar documents as regards the money before they kill me. It is a risk free transaction.
I'm waiting for your urgent reply.
Best regards.sincerely,
Henry Tigana
The thing is that many of these vehicles are not yet ready for prime time. What do I mean? Well check out the web sites suggested, while some are great concepts and wonderful ideas most are not yet for sale.
The offerings from the major manufacturers seem to be the same as always... available sometime in the future. Or extremely overpriced with limited range. It "feels" like they are just playing the game of Green to lure more people into their showrooms where they can sell you something else.
Yes there are some vehicles that will travel at 35 miles per hour that are ready now, but this is not practical for many people. A minimum of 50 mph would be needed and a range someplace in the 60 mile range would be practical.
The people that would buy a car like that have children and need a place for them to sit safely and a place for their "stuff". In addition because I live in the Northeast the car needs to be enclosed and have heat!
So far the only sensible option open to most is to convert an existing gas powered vehicle to electric. But this is a tremendous commitment and beyond the scope of many.
I agree with DJ Adams..... why don't any of the EV companies build reasonably priced EV Conversions so that average people can purchase regular cars?
I could see a company making conversions making a tremendous amount of money selling what people are asking for.
The next step is easy.... ask your EV customers to share their experiences with others. Why? There has been a real lack of information from the folks that actually drive EV cars. Or am I just missing it?
By letting potential customers know about your customers EV experience, how they save money, the people that stop them to ask about their cars and much more.
What will this accomplish? Simple you will become a major player in the EV business. (this means you will make a lot of money) You will also silence many of the unfounded cynicism by critics.
"Where can I buy one of those?" will be all you will here.
Oh yeah.... Where can I buy one of those?
John Nicholas
The reason the big manufacturers are getting into the game is to scare off the venture capital from these potential competitors so they will have the field to themselves if they ever decide to actually make an electric car. No doubt they will eventually build electric cars. Any product they make will of course be a rather dull but solid design by committee, not the brilliant but perhaps risky designs like some seen here.
Whatever it is, if any company has a viable electric car that is actually for sale, I'll buy one right away. By viable, I mean available for delivery, MSRP of less than $30,000, cruising speed of 65 mph, and range of 100+ miles. As far as I can tell, none of the cars featured here meet all those criteria.

You've not read much. There are other technologies like ultracapacitors and hydrogen fuel cells, just to name a couple. The future of the automobile will be dominated with electric cars like the Tesla Roadster, Dodge ZEO and the Obvio 828e - cars that go relatively fast and far. The ICE kings will die or evolve.

It's really amazing how much better electric vehicles could be with battery technology which is currently in the hands of oil companies.
I've read it's about the size of a Camry which is alot more preferred versus the rest of these clown
cars. Hope they get them to market soon.
