Leads created by these companies are terrible. We are still in a period where advertisers are testing and networks take quick opportunities on this type of traffic, but the fraud rate on the transactions created are very high and hard for advertisers to earn an ROI.

Its likely in the near future that prices to buy this inventory will come down significantly if its not already.

Re: Adknowledge buys Super Rewards, expands to virtual goods advertising

I've used cubics before for media buying, the performance of that network is 100x worse than buying media directly with Myspace, Facebook, or RockYou. Also, Offerpal got valued at $120m in February and Super Rewards just got acquired for $30m in July? Sounds like Super Rewards has a lot of hidden financial problems probably revolving around margins and flaky publishers that may have depressed their purchase price, but they were desperate and took the deal.

Re: Adknowledge buys Super Rewards, expands to virtual goods advertising

what? i didn't expect that. I am using offerpal and am a fan of them, but i guess $R will get better now it's been acquired by cubics/adknowledge.

On the other hand, all these virtual offers companies face competition from the eminent facebook's homegrown payments system. So good for them they got acquired before facebook steps in and changes the landscape

Re: Adknowledge buys Super Rewards, expands to virtual goods advertising

I kinda guessed this trend wouldn't go away, it makes sense that as more people spend more of their time online playing games then they would start to spend more of their money on aspects of those games. Yes the value of these leads is probably fairly low given the untargeted nature of them and the rewards based nature of gaining them but this could be said of many other forms of digital advertising and if the price point is right then you'll see a lot more advertisers going down this avenue.
