VentureBeat: Apple hints that Palm’s ability to sync with iTunes may be short-lived

Personally, I'd rather see it the other way around. I'd like to sync my iPhone with something other than iTunes. Having been a longtime user of J.River Media Center, I was disappointed that I'm not able to use it as my media manager for my iPhone -- it makes iTunes look like an abacus :(

But then it's Apple, who gets away with using their iPod/iTunes monopoly to push Safari (via a forced software update), and tying free iTouches to push Macs. The brazen nature of this specific Pre-targeted message sums it up: they think the rules don't apply to them because so far they haven't.

If Apple does indeed block the Pre it would only bolster my reasoning for refusing to use iTunes or any other Apple related products. It bugs the hell out of me how they try to control your content, not that I couldn't easily get around it, but it's about principle. Apple reminds me of a expensive and controlling girlfriend that eats away at you... heh

Wouldn't blocking any other media device from accessing/syncing iTunes except Apple approved stuff be a monopoly (somewhat)? Isn't that illegal?
