Matt's got far more interesting (though sometimes edgy) things to say.

Re: Bitpass croaks — is this the end of micropayments?

Do you and Arrington just read each others' blogs and re-write the same stories? Sure seems that way sometimes.

Re: Bitpass croaks — is this the end of micropayments?

The problem with BitPass was that it was like an operating system without an application e.g. the personal computer without VisiCalc/Lotus 1-2-3.

On July 15, 2005 I met with Kurt Huang and Duane Kuroda at BitPass to try to persuade them to work with me on the development of DonationPal/SubscriptionPal which is an application that would sit on top of BitPass (or any similar micropayment system). They seemed intent and interested during our 2 hour meeting but I never heard back from them. Perhaps the turmoil of losing their CEO recently was still an issue.

Re: Bitpass croaks — is this the end of micropayments?

Bitpass may well go down as one of many visionary ships launched 10 years too early. A one click anonymous currency for the web is a crying need. Email it to a friend or family member or buy at your favorite Ecommerce site.

The Yaga technology acquired by Bitpass had great promise...

Hasta la vista, Bitpass. May the next start-up get the Net currency right.
