VentureBeat: BlackBerry opts not to sit around and wait for the iPhone to kill it

    I definitely agree with your assessment over AppleInsider's. That said, RIM has historically been very poor in supporting the Mac market in general. PocketMac, their sync'ing software is terrible (guys, buy Missing Sync!).

    They very much run the risk of being outflanked in smartphone arena, although put me in the camp of happy Blackberry owner AND happy iPod touch owner specifically because the BB is a better input device.

    That said, if they are earnest about competing with the iPhone, what better way than coming up with a platform and SDK strategy that embraces and extends the iPhone SDK learning curve?

    @Mark - thanks. i agree with the platform thought - i wouldn't be surprised at all to see that at some point down the road.

    good stuff on the potential of the SDK.

    RIM is a waaay too small to compete with iPhone. See the mobile market goes along with Google's Android platform.
