VentureBeat: Blockbuster’s financial outlook? Not so good.

Yes, the fixed cost and credit float model of blockbuster is so out-of-date and Netflix really nailed the good mixture between convience and cost optimization model and beat BlockBuster out of it:

Although it's confirmed that it is not chapter11, but I think they are in big trouble

Is it really Netflix that put them out of business? So they had this long to figure out a way to compete against Netflix and couldn't come up with anything?

The arguement that Netflix have affected the business is valid but, in my opinion it has only affected their profit margins. The real problem Blockbuster have is their setup, as they have become dependent on a revolving line of credit to stay afloat and that isn't good for any business. Especially in this economic climate, where it is harder to get credit.

I've been waiting for this day ever since blockbuster sent me to a collection agency over a $3.00 late charge. Treating your customers like deadbeats and criminals is not a good business model.
