Well, nine years went by, and here are the statistics as of Sept 2021:

Windows OS:

In September 2021, Windows had a desktop market share of 87.56%.

Windows 10 had a desktop/laptop market share of 75.68% of all Windows-based systems. This established it as the most popular operating system on the market.

Windows 7 was used by 18.03%.

3.95% of users relied on Windows 8.1.

1.1% of people used Windows 8.

0.8% of Windows PCs still ran on Windows XP.

Since only 1.1% of people still use Windows 8, this tells me that lots of things
went seriously wrong with Win 8. Specifically, Microsoft refused to make any
free instruction booklet or PDF available. Leaving customers dancing in the dark is not leadership & is not user friendly. Microsoft must have known that
the majority of users liked to have several windows open, and often enough
copied & pasted from one application to another. MSFT made numerous similar mistakes with Win 8, and thereby doomed Windows 8.

So, there you are nine years later, and the "so-called ignorant users" have been proven correct, by the passage of time and by the failure of Win 8 to ever get to sufficient. Because throwing sand in the customer's eyes is not a good marketing strategy. Insulting customers for having questions does not
work all that well. Likewise, getting rid of or disabling functions for the sole
reason that "oh, only 3% or 5% of customers use this or that part of the software" is idiotic. Why? Because if keep doing this type of "only 3% use it"
as an excuse, over and over again, then you will over time offend 50%, 60% of your customers. Because the different 3% groups using some feature generally do not overlap. If you don't understand that, you are one of the

people who make things faster, with less care than needed, with no regard for
consumer safety, without concern for quality and workmanship, with prices

going up and quality going down.

MSFT should be told this simple truth 100 times per month, until it sinks in.

This discussion is a little stale but I must add that Yelp is the worst performing of all advertising I have done - I did not got one lead from them at all. The customer service is horrible and the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. I would be very skeptical of any service business using yelp. I would love to hear from people who have had similar stories or can change my opinion.

This was an expensive error that I wish I could tell every business owner I come into contact with about. If I could rate the experience on Yelp, I would give it zero stars. The ad budget that I gave- $450 PER MONTH did not result in ANY increase in business or increase in web traffic to my site. Additionally, $75 additional dollars for an enhanced listing did not improve any incremental traffic to our site. I am now over $1000 in expenses – WITH NO SALES ATTRIBUTABLE TO YELP. (This has been verified via my Google Analytics and Webmaster tools. The Yelp explanation on the sign up page should say “WE WILL BILL THIS AMOUNT MONTHLY NO MATTER WHAT” regarding the monthly budgeted amount- and if Google works differently in the CPC, then Yelp should have made it abundantly clear. If this was coming from a customer of mine regarding my business, this would have appeared on my business’s public review where any potential client could see it. Is there anywhere where I can review YELP! on YELP! so that other businesses could see my displeasure and maybe avoid a $1000 waste of money? Is there anywhere on YELP! where I could lambast Yelp and create pressure for a refund/resolution – the way that Yelp encourages other clients to do to their advertisers? When I called the advertising line to complain, I was told by the representative that I should have used the Managed Advertising Campaign- but that since there was nothing for him to help me with and he transferred me over to another department.The representative in that department, who was very nice and professional, told me that my only recourse is to provide feedback was to send an email. I am frustrated and angry with them. It would be interesting to look on Yelp for an attorney that does class action on contingency…

A lot of people seem to be referring to TapJoy in this thread. I wonder what happened over the past few years as their service is the worst I've ever experienced. They do not reply to support emails, they do not enable us to withdraw our earnings but instead only provide an option to spend them on advertising. If anyone has any information about TapJoy post 2016, I would love to hear. Anyone thinking about using them. Avoid!
