VentureBeat: Expanding abroad? Avoid translation travesties

  • websitelocalization · 5 months ago
Excellent article! I must say I enjoyed the examples of companies that got it wrong, but it is not a funny matter when it comes to our brand image. Translation is definitely not enough. In the online marketing we need to make sure our content is not only understandable, but also culturally accepted. As you mentioned, there are many language nuances that can be caught only by native speakers who are experienced linguists. And it can be done easily by hiring a website localization company. I definitely would not recommend using web tools to translate my website. It goes far beyond that.

This is not only important for large corporations but also 'micro-multinationals'. Small companies were already beginning to mimic the international reach of large ones but now in these tough times exploring new avenues is essential.
