There are many new names that have popped up over the past couple of months. However, Facebook has definitely frustrated a lot of developers on the platform, including multiple double standards in policy enforcement, particularly around invitations. There's definitely a different standard for the top apps and higher profile developers.

Other times it seems they would find some content objectionable one week, but perfectly fine a couple months later.

A lot of this doesn't necessarily apply to connect, because connect is (currently) filtering applicants and is more about an identity and broadcasting system. If FB can start pushing traffic to third party sites using connect, publishers will start to feel the pain of platform developers a bit more when policy affects their feed ranking.

Re: Facebook’s platform: Rebuilding the plane in midflight

Thanks for this very good summary of FaceBook's dilemna.
Music may be to social platforms what office automation became to operating systems. I'm surprised Apple didn't enter that game yet.

P@

Re: Facebook’s platform: Rebuilding the plane in midflight

Very good >> http://tinyurl.com/4rdhmc

Re: Facebook’s platform: Rebuilding the plane in midflight

Smart piece, one of the most insightful analysis anywhere.

Re: Facebook’s platform: Rebuilding the plane in midflight

interesting piece, eric.
