Isn't it funny a week or so ago R. Scobel was banned from facebook for running a plaxo beta script and now facebook is buying them ???

When someone like Facebook buys LinkedIn, then I'll wake up from a nap.. but Plaxo, come on.. thats not even news. Plaxo's only value is "a glorified Sync tool". 100-200 million seems like a lot for sync software.
What FB needs to do is let me merge my personal (Facebook) with my professional (LinkedIn) network and then you're a killer app baby!

I dont think that anyone will buy Plaxo. They don't seem to be as relevant as they were in the beginning. -----------------------------------------

I'd be somewhat surprised if this were true but, the resulting advantages to users of both Facebook and Plaxo make it an interesting idea. I think everyone's second thought during the Scoble affair (right after, "Scoble did what?") was, "Wow, I'd love to map my facebook friends to any number of social contact management datasets".
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The first service to hold all this social data and sync it effortlessly to iPhone and Blackberry contact management wins.

I agree with Michael. Lets combine apps with real value to each other (Facebook and LinkedIn). I started using Plaxo for the sync capability, then I moved to an on-line only model and gave up on Outlook, thus eliminating the real value Plaxo added for me. I joined LinkedIn later and really like the networking capabilities it brings to the table. Now Plaxo, feeling left behind I guess, is trying the social networking thing and it's just not working for me. I like the idea of FB and LI being able to share info and only having to enter my updates once, but I for one would like to segregate my business networking (LinkedIN) from my "other" networking (Facebook). Just my two cents worth!

Yuo have to admit this would be handy. But since everyone on Plaxo is almost certainly on Facebook what does FB get from this that they couldn't build for a lot less?
