The site is well-done, although it's hard to believe the 500k uniques number.
Compete.com reports 5k uniques/month over the past few months, and a recent jump to 70k uniques/month (probably because of all the press coverage). Quantcast reports 2.3k uniques a month.
Both estimates are a far cry from the 500k uniques fanbase claims, and I would be curious to see how they're getting these numbers.
I'm the Vice President of Marketing and Product for Fanbase. Thanks for the kind words about the site.
We can understand your surprise at our traffic numbers – we too were puzzled by the sizable difference in the publicly available traffic numbers versus our internal numbers from Google Analytics.
However, I can confirm that we have had over 511,000 unique visitors since the end of June – and most of that has come in the last few weeks, leading to an August run-rate of 500k unique visitors.
Further, these numbers predate today's press launch and occurred without any outreach or promotion. Obviously our launch press will push our numbers well beyond our original 500k estimate for August.
Thanks for your interest and we hope you enjoy Fanbase.
