VentureBeat: Gene Security Network aims to bolster IVF genetic tests

  • Jay · 1 year ago
Appears not to address a big market for IVF, which is aging women - whose ability to produce genetically healthy eggs diminshes significantly after age 40. Current state of the art only tests for the 5 most common genetic abnormalities, and is relatively inaccurate. This results in many IVF transfers of abnormal embryos, resulting in miscarriage. There is a current study ongoing at Yale of embryonic polar bodies which tests all 23 chromosones. Its not clear whether GSN technology actually expands the scope of the tested chromosones or increases accuracy.
