VentureBeat: Geni aims to build family tree for whole world

  • Martin · 2 years ago
I just entered my nearest family, and as I'm from an obscure european country, shame on me, my fathers name contains a fancy character, which it can't handle.
Isn't Unicode Everywhere pretty much the first thing you do when you start a new application?

I'm also from an obscure country (Slovakia) and I feel your pain!

Geni.com so far is a great resource to anyone looking to build a tree.

However it still needs more work. God forbid you make a mistake. Deleting or moving people to different parts of the tree is only possible if you haven't edited their profile. Ouch.

Though once that is resolved - I think this could actually help my family keep in touch. I like it a lot.

..Geni, a new site you can map and show your family tree web 2.0 style is taking off. Along the way, they're thoughtfully considering how to balance viral public connections and privacy..
