VentureBeat: How drug reps do that thing they do

  • rj · 2 years ago
the first paper seems to be describing a phenomenon known as "sales"-- truly a beauty to behold when it's done well. No matter whether you're selling drugs or enterprise software. That's why the great sales people are paid so much. They're artists.

The second is trickier, because of the onerous legal restrictions in this country. Shhh...you're not allowed to mention what problems this drug solves... the bureaucrats haven't ok'd your conversation yet. Though it is one's job to act within the law, no matter how goofy that law is.

Yes, RJ, it's those sinister bureaucrats out to spoil your fun and profit. Darn them!

Or wait! Could those laws be there for a reason? That perhaps health care is somehow more important than Coke/Pepsi decisions? That you should have actual proof of what you're claiming a drug can do? That life-or-death decisions shouldn't be made on the basis of who can manipulate doctors the best?

Nah. Crazy talk. Sorry, must be the jet lag I got coming back from Europe.
