VentureBeat: In history revision, Microsoft now a friend of the valley

really interesting observations matt. and i think spot on for the most part.

fascinating how microsoft has changed from overlord back to underdog.

(altho there was also a time in the late 80's / early 90's where microsoft was an earlier underdog too).

consistent tho with everything that Microsoft has been about since its earliest beginnings, is this story is about *developers*... this time, perhaps thru Facebook's platform, instead of the Microsoft Windows platform.

as dominant as Google is / has been, i still don't think they've really got inside the head of the developer community, and that's still an opportunity / challenge for them to figure out. perhaps a little healthy competition will make the GOOG pay more attention on that front, and i hope they are successful in making progress there.

Agreed... I remember that Simpson's episode where Homer tries to start an internet company and then Bill Gates kills his business... but, as you said, Matt, things have changed... A lot of people are cheering Microsoft on... I mean their transformation from a desktop giant to a big player in the internet space was amazing... bravo :)
