I would think since iPhone is the third leg of the Apple stool, they may adopt the naming scheme of the old golden goose, the mac. In such case, Macbook, and iMac do not get special names each time they refresh, and people don't have a problem buying the new versions, or even knowing that the new ones have been created. iPod has also followed a similar path. iPod Nano and such. I would expect unless they release a dramatically different form factor the name will remain.
The other issue I see with the speed boosts is how do you deal with new apps that require the faster hardware to run smoothly. Maybe it is just like the PC world where it is Buyer beware, but I hope Apple has a bit of a better policy.
I think we will see it thinner and shorter. Same screen size for sure, maybe higher resolution since the apps are resolution independent (to a point)
I think it will stay iPhone 3G, and eventually they will drop the 3G portion.
Probably will feature a built in vid cam for iChat video and other native video recording features.
I'd like to be able to attach photos to emails after launching the email application and not having to start in the photos application then go to email.
(a la the title of this article); not claiming to be the first to mention that video is in the future of the device. I just have a strong prediction that iPhone Video is what it will be called...mark my words...:)
I'm going to go for 'Iphone Nano' ... for one thing - apple have the domain registered
