    The greatest benefit of Facebook is that it has many groups on the site that you can join. So if you are interested in Chicago Cubs you can research Chicago Cubs in the groups section and you will be able to find friends on there that like the Cubs. This is just one example, I know that you can join groups of your favorite football team, television show, or whatever you want for the most part! If you can't find a group for your interest, you can simply create one!

    "A: Profiles should be a place where they communicate their authentic identity. We’re working on changes to the profile page that we can’t share at the moment. They will affect developers. Profile boxes which are used to help users show their identity are going away. Similarly, the boxes tab, which we know and love will be going away. Profile tabs, which will be in place, will be narrowed. They are 710 pixels. They’ll be going to 560. But I think it’s 710 to 560."

    Are the boxes on fan pages going away too? I built the page for a non-profit company and we're definitely using the boxes for event registration links back to our website - it would be a HUGE disadvantage to our cause if we lost that functionality. Our analytics this year, showed a 35% increase in web traffic based solely off our participation on Facebook and we saw that the majority of online registrations came from the tracking code of the boxes tab.

    I don't think the fan pages are changing significantly. It's just the boxes tab on the profile page. I'm also not sure what you're referring to -- is it the box of fans on the fan page? That's definitely not going away. They've even built fan widgets that you can carry across to your own web page.

    Sure hope there's a way to quickly wipe everything but friend requests. So much application spam, farmville, vampires, fan page requests, event requests, etc.
