a) Copying it and doing it better
b) Making the revenue share terms awful
Think about it, Facebook opens up the platform to let people develop apps and Facebook can let various approaches to things like advertising compete. It can watch to see which approach is winning, copy it or screw it by ruining the revenue share.

I have seen early reviews before, and that is one thing you have to keep in mind - we are in a new environment, inside a company that already said "Monetize your apps (that you wrote) how you want." So yes, Mark Zuckerberg opened up that door.
