I think Pibb.com is pretty interesting. Its OpenID backed so you can grow an identity there, plus it is persistent real-time chat, and includes channels, and threads within channels, as well as some other features lacking in other platforms.

I give it two months before the Meebo chat rooms becomes meat markets just like the old Yahoo chat rooms were. Remember those? They were closed because adults were propositioning kids. Now here they are again but with the option to play videos!

I don't see how this is innovative. Various IM clients have had chat rooms for years. They may be dynamic, which is somewhat neat, but it hardly seems earth shaking.

Also, it will likely make more money for the people who spam chat rooms than it will for the company.

I've always rooted for the Meebo guys/girls, I hope they do something actually interesting soon.
