I'd love to know what the click-through rates are for these ads. After the initial novelty wears off, of course.

I wouldn't expect click-through to be great. Ads like these are useful for branding and awareness campaigns. Frankly, when I go to Meebo, I want to chat, not go off to a car site to learn more. Search, on the other hand, is better positioned to deliver click-through.

I agree. Ads integrated within chat applications aren't going to drive a very good response most of the time.
