VentureBeat: Mobile email app reMail gets a key addition: Multiple accounts

How is reMail allowed to duplicate the functionality of Apple's email client (potentially "causing confusion") but Google is not allowed to duplicate the functionality of Apple's telephone client. Or was Apple not being 100% truthful in their response to the FCC?

Hi Wil, this is Gabor from reMail. reMail is primarily a full-text search app, which Apple doesn't do (their email search is headers only, per folder). There are a bunch of apps that are similar in relation to Apple's functionality - for example, consider all the weather apps that give you a better, higher-resolution view of the weather than the iPhone's built-in application.

Thanks for your reply, Gabor. I wasn't faulting reMail - I think you guys have a great product that adds a lot of functionality - but so does Google Voice. I was pointing out Apple's hypocrisy and half-truths regarding their app approval process and rationale for refusing to approve Google Voice.
