I have tried avotmedia solution on my mobile and it works great. I am almost addicted to the application now and as it is mentioned it does have a good video and sound quality. Great work. keep it up guys.

I did give AvotMV a try on my Windows Mobile Phone. After running two videos, my phone complained about being out of memory. I could not close the application and the only way to recover was to reboot the phone.

The quality really lacks over here. Mobile applications require a good architecture and problems such as memory leaks and freezes should be resolved there.

Pent up demand is evident in that there is growth here despite that aren’t many good solutions or customer experiences out there, especially in the US. The “last mile” is the primary culprit here - the ability for a company to easily and consistently deliver content to the hundreds of handsets out there across many cell carriers. It seems, to cut through this barrier, you should just build an app to live on the phone. Apps are feasible to build for Symbian and Smart phones, but these phones represent a tiny percentage of handsets in the market (US). Porting apps to reach all the handsets out there is too cumbersome and expensive, not to mention the barrier of getting a user to actually download the app. This leaves you with the dirty work of designing solutions that work without apps, primarily through WAP, SMS, and MMS.

My money is on the services that can offer the user a complete package – easily getting media on to and off of a handset, and being able to view and share that media seamlessly without an app download.

Its very sick of 3guppies to post such a comment. I found that they are in some mobile video solution that provides user videos.

Yikes - who wants to see amateur videos. YouTube is big because it has all videos. Not just kiddie videos.

Good job John. All your money on 3Guppies coz they pay your bills.

I can't use it as I use regular phone, not windows mobile phone, like 95% of the mobile users.

I like MyCorner.com service that works on my phone and claims to work on WM phones. Best of all, it requires no download. They have videos from Google, Metacafe and User submitted.

I have also found DivX mobile media at http://mobilemedia.divx.com with great videos. Check it out.

I hate when people don't appreciate the technology and add stupid comments without knowing or verifying what they're talking about.

I tried MyCorner.com on my RAZR & it DOESNOT work. looks like some spyware to me - they send you a link with port 8080 (huh!) and redirect you to some unknown page..

The DivX mobile site mentioned in the post DOESNOT open either..

The author of this article must have spent so much time to write about these great startups(Good job).. and few users (due to their personal interests) try to malign them. all the best guys.. You all have great technologies and good vision. The user community is with you..
