Matt & Mike, what is up your sleeves? :)
Is that just matter of time as well ;-)

It's a great move, but since when did it take 'several hundred thousand dollars' to build out a blog? Even if you want to add some tools. This should be interesting, a great theorist meets reality head on.

Does not surprise me a bit.

Anyone who is remotely a human, knows a thing or two about "the Internets", and has an instinct of some sort would be feeling inclined to get in the ring instead of merely covering the game from the sidelines.

A blog, especially if it has a lot of video content to be created and news to be collected would need decent amount of funding.

I guess siliconbeat is run as a part time hobby or something?

Matt, can you please confirm whether siliconbeat is a commercial venture?

Harshal, there are nuances in the relationship between the Mercury News and myself that are best left confidential for now. But yes, SiliconBeat is run on my own time. I'm considering various options.

Yes, Silicon Valley will not be the same without Om, and we all love his humor. Please keep us updated on his new endeavor.
