VentureBeat: One billion users, $1 billion: how did Twitter get the numbers?

As I tell my clients, valuation for consumer startups is (often) a function of consumption and proximity to transactions. Google has both. Facebook has tons of consumption, but a tougher time putting itself in the midst of transactions. Twitter's got crazy consumption, and you could argue a better ability to position itself in the context of transactions than Facebook (different use-case and better search dynamics than FB) - but still has a long way to go to mature its transaction relevance. All in, I wish I had a few shares ;-) Nice piece KMC.
