If the future of enterprise software is simply going to have lower overall revenues, I'd rather be invested in the company that is making it happen than the ones who are fighting it. If you have any doubts about Sugar, check it out! It's comparable to Salesforce (and in many ways better) for most use cases.

And of course, right next to it on source-forge is "opencrx" another open source CRM that isn't trying to make money off the effort. From their words:
openCRX is open source software � no hidden agenda, no gimmicks like "patent-pending team-selling features" and absolutely no reason to buy a professional/commercial version later to get all the features (because there is no commercial version...)
Buying software is getting to be such a weird concept.
