This is the future of monetizing for every app developer out there. Evolution of shareware, and what download.com only dreams they would ever be... Congrats Chester, Darrius and co.. you guys are going to crush it. Also having Bessemer in your corner is always a good thing.

This is also unwarranted Adware that is installed onto your computer without your knowledge or permission, has no way to uinstall, hijacks your browse and registry, creates unwanted folders on the root directory of your harddrive, etc.etc.etc.

Until there is a substantial uninstall software, registry cleaners and other such tools to remove this adware (fully malware by definition as it installs without permission), products using this should be banned.

I just found it on my computer and was not aware that itwas installed !! If this was created by such a reputed people (from Divx), what a SHAME to do this kind of sneaky installation. Good idea nad VERY BAD execution. I do not want to use bad words but I'm almost there.

No matter however you "sugar coat" it OpenCandy IS adware and spyware. First off aren't the recommend programs a type of ad? I do think so. Also anything that sends info back from my registry is considered spying. "Anonymous" or not. Besides how do we know there not building a database of who uses or turns down which software?

Oh and another note why is it called Open Candy, if its not OPEN SOURCE. To me that name is just way too scary. Would any of you trust an unwrapped or open piece of candy if you see it? Personally I wouldn't.
