VentureBeat: Phonevite offers phone-invitation service

Suprised this article doesn't mention text messaging. I would think it would pose quite the threat. Why pay for a voice recording when I can create my own on my phone and send a mass text to all of my friends.

    Hi College Kid,

Thank you for your comment. We are also planning on integrating text messaging and email to our service in the near future.

While our generation and the tech-savvy consumer segment may be very familiar with using text messaging on the cell, unfortunately, there are still millions who don't have a cell phone, are still not comfortable using sms, or who don't know how to send txt messages to groups of numbers.

Our service is there to complement the way you communicate with multiple people (Did you know our service was free? sms messages cost you per text or you have to buy a bulk/unlimited package from the wireless carrier, which still costs you).

Additionally, sending your group message via the phone lets you communicate more completely, as you can add the event details, your excitement/emotion in the voice.

Hope this info helps. Thanks again for the feedback.

    Hello..

We are developing the same solution. We had integrated sms alerts and email alerts. The voice alerts are also integrated as a demo but we are not allowing the bulk call now due to some issues with the current infra.

    Thanks
