VentureBeat: Q&A with Saar Gur, on Facebook

  • dave mcclure · 2 years ago
Saar is a really smart AND really nice guy. pretty rare combination ('specially for a VC ;)

Gotta hand it to George & team over at CRV -- they've really done well by themselves recruiting both Susan & Saar.

Those two are some *great* ambassadors for the next generation of startups.

we've had an excellent response to our facebook app and it's still a work in progress, we've noticed a huge amount of people who want to learn about investing/trading/leverage in a fun, educational, non-commercial setting--and we look forward to getting our added features rolling---the potential is truly exciting

I want to *build* on what Dave McClure said: Saar is just the *greatest* genius ever; his *brilliant* ability to craft web 2.0 widgets parallels Einstein's ability to craft equations and the value he is *unlocking* by diverting the proceeds from California retirees' pensions to these widgets exceeds that created during the industrial revolution. I hope he gets all the recognition he deserves and doesn't have to pay more than 15% on his carried interest like all the ordinary dolts from whose pensions his income derives. Oh yeah, he is also *the* nicest guy ever.

@cynic: seriously dude; if you want to rip on someone, get a fucking spine and sign your post.

while it's quite reasonable to have a harsh take, hiding behind "anon" signins is chickenshit. at least REAL assault bloggers like denton & calacanis stand behind their vitriol.

OWN it fer chrissakes, ya whiner.

well this guy doesn't understand facebook anyways. people don't "meet randomly" on facebook....guess what VCs- start up costs are low enough, you are gonna be cut out of this equation. say goodbye to the halcyon days of low valuations and high returns. you're fucked!

Anon...you might remember that the whole premise of facebook was to connect people on college campuses. As a college kid I can tell you that I have friends who have met their gf's via facebook and randomly based on their profiles. You must be a little too old to remember that facebook still has a usage out side of apps.
