    This is a likely strategy for Google. It is intelligent how they are expanding vertically - this versatility will be essential in their long term survival.


    It is amazing how many LEAKS the Wall St Journal gets about Google - but they insist on a subscription-only model.

    They get the benefit of massive media promotion - but give little back to the non subscribing public

    @SearchEnginesWeb - I also love it from Google perspective even though vertical integration usually concerns me, and agree WSJ needs to stop containing their content within paid walls.

    On Matt's good point re: privacy, what percentage of people will ultimately trade their viewing habits data/metadata for better, more targeted TV ads?

    Oh great, I can see it now. Fall behind paying your Dish bill and rather than a terse note from accounts payable they monetize your attention with commercial breaks on debt consolidation services.

    It would be fantastic if it does work out. Google is alredy widely known for online advertising, they can also easily dominate the television advertising market if they want as well.
