The hi5 network is mostly made up of users who live in developing (3rd world) countries, like Thailand, Romania, and Mexico to name a few. That's not to say they're not going to make "some" money but not enough to save the ailing social network. The most offensive feature that hi5 forces down your throat is their "friend recommendation" system. When you log in, Hi5 annoyingly (in the center of the page) suggests - almost random - so-called-friends for you to add; as a consequence, the social graph on Hi5 is weak and dilutes the overall social networking experience making the service lame relative to Facebook. Good thing their switching from social network to gaming network.

Re: Social network hi5 aims its 60 million users at casual games

It is hard to tell if these secondary social networks will make it or will they become like the also-rans in the portal market (i.e. Excite & InfoSeek). Hi5 is a high flier traffic wise according to eBizMBAs numbers:

http://www.ebizmba.com/arti...

but in the end will that matter-- it didn't for Excite & Infoseek. I wonder if history is not repeating itself on the web.
