VentureBeat: Source: T-shirt site Cafepress buys art marketplace Imagekind

There is one thing in common with all of the sell art prints etc. sites, they all require self-promotion to the extreme. Imagekind is cool, but just like deviantart.com; less than 1% of the artists who pay into it make any real money. These sites are just glorified 'pay to have an online gallery' if you're an artist who can't do it themselves easily. There are no marketing tools for any of the users of these sites, they rely totally on the artist for promotion.

Cafe Press bought Image Kind to improve their Art print department. However neither company offers true archival mounting, making their prints practically worthless.

The sad part is that the public along with most of their "artists" are unaware of this.

So how much would you pay for an archival print that's not archival?
