Here's a $5 and 2hr idea..

I would immediately call a friend (25 cents), ask for help, and promise him more than $20 for 1hr of work.

Then at around 12 'o clock at a busy beachfront intersection, I would proposition 3 retail businesses that I could wave customers in for $7/1hr, leaving our shoe/s behind as collateral...

Then losing 30 minutes to awkward negotiations, I could almost guarantee us $15 up front.

I would then take the approx $20, which includes the $5 allotted to me originally, and purchase 3 cases (24pack) of water for $3.50 each (after tax).

After losing 30 minutes to purchasing ($10.50) and carrying water with friend to beachfront, I would then sell each bottle for $1, while friend advertises three businesses, loud and proud.

If we could avoid police, and sell almost 1.5 bottles a minute, I would have approximately $72 after 2hrs.

I could pay my friend $30, myself approx $51 (water sales plus remainder in treasury) and inform business owners that any customers with water bottles were courtesy of my service.. then if all was satisfactory, obtain shoe/s.

You are missing the point. The point is to get beyond the perceived constraints we have, be it self imposed or by society, and to utilize our grouped ingenuity in recognizing a potential demand and acting on it without the preconceived and self defeating perceptions that we require X amount of money and resources. Opportunities surround us, yet it wasn't until these people were in a classroom with a challenge in front of them before these small opportunities were converted into dollars.

You can always start something given certain constraint. But, is this business from the entrepreneurs students is sustainable?
In Australia, we have these unemployed people waiting in the traffic light to wash the car's glass. People making $2 only by putting their soap and wiper on the cars window. But, everybody know that it's a rip-off, and people give them money not because of their service, but because they start wiping before the drivers have change to say "No".
