Love the iphone. The device will come in at a size larger than the iPhone/iPod touches, yet smaller than any of its laptops, the WSJ reports (this would kind of obvious, though).

You have the wonder did the iPhone / Ipod Touch / App Store become the public development and refining in markets that existed (mp3 players and cellphones) while Asus and Acer built public interest in a potential new market: the netbooks. Providing Apple the abilty to walk into a market.

true, but young pups like you can see in that screen size... i want one that has the dimensions (albeit landscape) of a real, say... piece of printed text. then, i stop coveting a kindle asap.

Actually, you are incorrect in saying that most netbooks dont have 10" screens. The vast majority of product entries (from MSI to Asus) do have the canonical 10" 1024x600 display.

What they'll do without Jobs in the long term is problematic, but I'm sure glad he's engaged now. It's the perfect time for Apple to dominate the next generation of multimedia netbooks and perhaps the computer/television interface for HDTV.

Think 10" tablet the same rough shape as iPhone, with a pop-out stand and Mac OS X touch. When a device like this comes along everyone will be saying: "that design was obvious, we should have seen it coming". And yes, software only keyboard. K.I.S.S.
