Using jango, mp3 files of songs played are downloaded to C:\Documents and Settings\Richard\local settings\temporary internet files\Content.IE5\. (I use windows XP)
I can't find them in windows search, (I think the folder is hidden) but can in Agent ransack. If you then open the mp3 files in iTunes they are then added to the library. Most used to come with lots of embedded info like track name, artist name, album, track number, etc., at least they did a couple of months ago, but when I tried yesterday they just came as a number for the filename, with no extra info. I'm not sure about the legality of it all though.

I think the service works great as of now, my rock and blues stations work great, I've noticed it doesn't just separate the songs based on the genre as it says in the article, but also into happy or sad song, acoustic or electric (maybe that's because of the genre) and their level of aggression, there are a few glitches and it took me a few hours to really understand how to fine-tune a station but there's hope for these guys..

SpiralFrog will more likely than not end up going bankrupt. Its burn rate is too high and no vc in his or her right mind would invest in a ship that's sinking that fast.

I think mp3 blog aggregator sites like TasteStalkr and HypeMachine are the way to go.

Since when have 'genre' and 'sub-genre' been music parameters? These are subjective judgements. If MeeMix are making use of users' judgements on genre then it differs little from using Last.fm's folksonomy/mob indexing and the same problems of subjective judgements causing inaccurate suggestions will occur, if not, then it's back to the old hat 'expert opinion' of Pandora. Pity there isn't a little more info on their supposedly innovative approach available.

The other key differentiator for Jango -- and a draw for both listeners and advertisers -- is its social network.

I have been using the service for about a month now, and the social interaction part is built in (you see faces in your music player of others on the site listening to similar music -- or your stations -- at the same time), so it is natural and very active. More than I can say for Pandora and Last.fm, and some others in this niche.

Don't know how much money they've raised, but they are worth keeping an eye on. If my venture firm was more active in this category, they'd be on my short list.

SpiralFrog needs to change their model, at least the way the music is accessed.
