VentureBeat: The Simpsons Apple spoof likely has many wondering what a “myCube” is

  • Karl · 1 year ago
Man, you're not good at watching tv.
  • ralphie wiggum · 1 year ago
and how! what a ridiculous 'post' - if sucking the humor out of a parody was a craft, this guy would be a journeyman.
  • mn · 1 year ago
Yeesh. The Simpsons? They are still making new shows? They were over years ago and have not had a new joke in so long nobody can remember any more.
  • Apple Sux · 1 year ago
mn, you must be kidding. The Simpsons will go down as one of, if not the best tv show in the history of television. Get an education and you may understand the subtle humor of The Simpsons.
  • Boob · 1 year ago
Subtle yea right the Simpsons jokes have lately just been family guy jokes with different characters. And both shows should have been canceled years ago

Apple has always been mainstream and has been the trendy computer to own by the trendy hipster. iPod just added to that popularity. Once Apple reachs 51% market share, they will have as many virus problems as microsoft.

    Weak writing in this article

You sound like the most boring fanb..ehm...person, ever. Honest.

    Appalling

Missed it last night. Hopefully it is good as you it seems to be from the little review. I am not a big fan of apple and believe the biggest reason that it is so popular stems from the fact that people can't use complicated devices.

Simpsons has had several little jabs at apple over the years. The most famous being the one making fun of the handwriting recognition in the Newton (which got significantly better on later Newtons).

I did find it strange to pick on the cube - I mean, a product that was discontinued about 7 years ago? And no, it didn't glow when it was turned off.

I get the humor, but I think it could have been done a bit better. I'm a huge Mac fan - but I don't really care for the iPod. I like the OS - I don't think that makes me a brainless trend follower (since I've used Mac OS long before the iPod came out). I do think Jobs makes plenty of mistakes, but I would give anything to spend a day with Woz. So from my point of view, the joke is less than accurate.

    Thanks Chris, agreed.
  • Adrian · 1 year ago
geez, MG Siegler really are you picking on the Simpson? Why don't you write about something more important. This piece is such a downer and really a look at your boring life. You try keeping a show fresh after 20 years. AND who are these people wondering what a my cube is? Did you take a poll or something? I can't believe I've wasted this much time on this horrible writing.

Fact is it's still making money, are you?
  • MG Siegler · 1 year ago
Well I'm certainly not making money taking the time to read and respond to comments like this.

    Your life is so boring.

Not true that The Simpsons had never made fun of Apple. In 1994 they made fun of the Apple Newton and it's flawed, first-generation handwriting recognition technology - "Beat up Martin" turned into "Eat up Martha" on the town bully's Newton.

Seriously? You are probably that guy that goes to see a James Bond movie only to complain that it was unrealistic. ...net!

Matt Marshall is better than this.

Matt, when I met you last, I came out thinking VentureBeat would be quality posts, not pay-per-posts like TC and not fanboy/troll/microsuck garbage. Get rid of this guy, he clearly needs a PC and some perspective.
  • Dan Peguine · 1 year ago
    I thought it was funny.
  • Colin Waters · 1 year ago
Awesome. Got to watch the episode last night and I thought the spoof on Apple was one of the better ones in recent years.

THE SIMPSONS STOLE THAT FROM SOUTH PARK.because in a south park episode cartman suspects butters new muslim friend's parents of being involved in a terrorist plot on springfield. the muslim was a kid. that was the story of that simpsons episode where homer suspects barts new friend who is also muslim of being involved in a terrorist plot. the only diference is its homer instead of cartman and bart instead of butters.
  • spfan · 1 year ago
the simpsons have a bit of a reputation for stealing episode ideas fro other shows so i woudnt be surprisedif the simpsons stole that from south park
