Hi Michael - am trying to contact you, and this seems to be the only way that works. I'm an independent telecom/tech analyst and would like to get in touch with you. Thanks.

Wow, that's a little pricey. For $50 you can get a remote and watch internet television on your PC (http://zipityzap.com). Do you really need a remote to adjust your thermostat and other functions that aren't as repetitious as channel-zapping?

geraldz, It's not just a remote control for $699.

It also is the controller for an entire Home Automation system, which can communicate with your security system, control your Lights / HVAC / Contacts/Relays (garage doors, etc.), as well as control all your Home Theater gear and stream MP3s throughout your home.

It's a very powerful automation system that can grow from that initial investment.

This company also features a mega media system from Sony that features all kind of top end A/V goodies. I wonder how much it costs? I like the idea of dimming lights to save money, but I really wonder if 120 cycles per second is fast enough that the eye would not detect it. I con't like CFLs because they buzz and flicker enough to drive me to distraction. I'm more sensitive to such things than the average person, but still, a concern in a multi-thousand dollar installation!

Be careful with Control4. They are not as easy to use and cheap as they claim to be. We spent tens of thousands of dollars on this system and it does not work. One problem ends, another one begins. The company's customer service is terrible, they just don't care about their clients. They released the system that is not operational, but they sell it as a final version, the most expensive one. It is not at all intuitive as it seems from the first glance. It takes a lot, really a lot of time to scan all the CDs we have, the system does not recognize most of them, so I have to input them personally in the system that consumes a lot of my time. Every time we want to listen to a new CD, we have to download it through the system and make sure it is there under a right name. Sometimes it recognizes tracks as separate CDs, and then it is a mess. I'd say for the money we paid we could buy a great "old style" music system and be happy instead of so much headache and attitude from the company and the dealer. And all our friends, most of whom are tech savvy or are investors in high-tech industry are laughing at us for trashing so much money in such a poor system.

I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. It seems to me that the integrator that installed your system does not know what he is doing. I think you would find it helpfull to contact another control 4 dealer and get your system fixed. These systems are very easy to use and v ery intuative. They are also susbstantialy cheaper than any other product on the market that offers the type of control that you get with C4. You may e-mail me at shiloh2621@gmail.com and I will asist you as much as I can. I am one of the oldest, most experienced, and highest level control 4 dealers in the country.
