VentureBeat: What’s Next: fully ergonomic laptops?

  • NMN · 4 months ago
Witty post, trying to turn a laptop into a desktop, eh? I fully agree with the reasons here though. http://AppUseful.com

    Too true, Mark.

I think another way to skin this cat is to have wireless links to monitors, or moreover, break down 'computing hardware' into its component pieces. More abstraction!

E.g., my Apple tablet, wirelessly talking to an auxiliary CPU in my iphone, and wirelessly talking to my separate keyboard. And then whenever I end up somewhere that has freely available monitors, I can move to that.

There have been some interesting laser-based keyboards out in the market which project a keyboard onto a flat surface.

Definitely a tough nut to crack here.

i've just re-built my studio with my twin displays at a LOWER level than the picture shows. Its barely a glance above the keyboard, and i din't get tired holding my chin up.

Just because a health authority tells me something is ergonomic, do i have to believe it? I'm no laboratory rat!!

I think elimintating the "unhealthy" use of laptops could be impossible
However, a solution that can reduce it may help a lot
Moreover, this is an important issue since people are moving to laptop using even in homes where they could use desktops instead

Why not just plug the laptop into an external keyboard, mouse and display? Doing so will turn your workspace into an Instant ergonomic setup. If you're laptop vendor sells a docking station, such a setup will be that much easier.

No need to redesign the laptop - except to make it smaller, faster, with batter graphics, better connectivity, and able to hold a larger capacity of data...
