VentureBeat: Your friends don’t hate you, Twitter is just cleaning house again

  • Rana June Sobhany · 1 year ago
Qwitter is definitely causing a lot of drama. It's almost a blessing in disguise that it's been broken! I haven't had a follower Qwit [?] in about 16 days as well.
  • Eric Eldon · 1 year ago
    That is for sure, Rana!
  • Rana June Sobhany · 1 year ago
On that note - is there some sort of protocol when someone unfollows you? Unfollow right away? Wait a couple days and then unfollow? Ignore it? These are the questions we need answers to!
  • Eric Eldon · 1 year ago
MG, we're all looking to you for answers on these important matters.
  • Leon Poole · 1 year ago
Great questions and I'd also like to know the answers to them.

Pretty sure that it had to do with Twitter changing some functions in their API and the folks at Qwitter just haven't gotten around to updating the site yet...

Great post by the way just gave a follow and I only lost 286 tweeps :|

The news about Qwitter is a little disheartening. The lack of Qwitter emails lately was making me think that I was actually starting to become liked...
  • xavierv · 1 year ago
I had the exact same feeling. oh well!
  • tylermac · 1 year ago
What, do you mean people aren't just naturally attracted to my tweets?
  • Tabitha "Tabz" Smith · 1 year ago
I haven't gotten anything from Qwitter in awhile as well.. I really appreciated the service. Hrm.
  • atul · 1 year ago
Instead of qwitter.com, use socialtoo.com It has an end-of-day report on who stopped following you. So far it has worked well for me.
  • Eric Eldon · 1 year ago
Considering Qwitter doesn't seem to work anymore, I'll definitely check it
    out.

There's always tless to let you know - http://twitterless.com/, or follow them @tless.
  • Pat Matson · 1 year ago
Oh thanks for posting this. Good info for sure.

My followers are still the same. Maybe I have overly trained eyes or intuition and sense the spammers.

Try http://friendorfollow.com to see if those you are following are following you back.
  • Paul Kinlan · 1 year ago
www.twollo.com does something similar, it shows you everyone who followed you back based on an auto follow.
  • Michael Fidler · 1 year ago
Try Socialtoo, instead of quitter. It provides the same function, as well several others!
  • elysa · 1 year ago
I use SocialToo as well - I didn't even realize I wasn't getting notifications from Qwitter because I've just recently signed up for Social Too

You may want to also check out Yonkly. It's the first "create your own" microblog to integrate with Twitter: http://yonkly.com

Found this post via a RT on twitter and sent it back out again to my followers. Thanks for the update. Losing so many followers at once does make you wonder; good to have an explanation. Agree with those who recommend www.socialtoo.com. Lots of cool features - like followers/unfollowers stats reports.

I also use Twitterless (@tless) instead of Qwitter. When some unfollows me I think that is great for both of us. I never take offense. I follow people all the time and soon find that they are talking about things that I dont particularly think should be in my Twitter network so I unfollow them. Not because I hate them or to teach them a lesson but to reduce the noise.

I was wondering just today about both of these things -

    1. Why no qwitter notices and

    2. Why I lost 125 or so followers suddenly.

Thanks for the update on both of these.
