Cafepress isn't the first to offer custom stamps nor are they claiming to be. They are, however, the first to offer them for any individual to sell online through their marketplace, something Zazzle or Stamps.com doesn't currently offer.

Cafepress has only 3 "fixed" stamps linked directly to photostamps.com I would not call this "starting it".
